The Bono Region recorded a total of 61 fire cases in 2025, representing a 103 per cent increase compared to the 30 cases recorded in 2024.
Following the surge, the Bono Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service, ACFO II Cecil Addo, has appealed for the retooling of the service with new fire tenders and other auxiliary equipment to enhance emergency response.
“The figures for 2025 far outweigh those of 2024. In 2025, we had 24 domestic fires and 37 bushfires, but for 2024, domestic fires were 9 and bushfires were 21, which should tell you that there is an increment of the figures in 2025.
“We need new fire tenders because you go to some communities, they lack tenders. Most of the tenders are out of commission and efforts are being made to get new ones.”
