The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Central Tongu, Hon. Addison Mornyuie, has presented financial support in the form of cheques to 42 persons with disabilities in the district to assist with school fees, healthcare, and other essential needs.

The support forms part of the district’s broader social inclusion and development strategy aimed at protecting vulnerable groups and ensuring equitable access to basic services.

Speaking at the presentation, Hon. Addison Mornyuie reaffirmed the district’s commitment to inclusive governance, stressing that development must be people-centered and leave no segment of the population behind.

“This support reflects our commitment to inclusion and our resolve to ensure that no one is left behind in our development efforts,” he stated.

He further announced that in the coming days, the district will roll out start-up support packages for beneficiaries who have applied for livelihood assistance. The initiative is expected to promote self-reliance, economic empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods among persons with disabilities in the district.

The intervention is part of ongoing social protection and community development programmes being implemented by the Central Tongu District Assembly to improve the quality of life of vulnerable and marginalized groups and strengthen inclusive local development.
