President-elect John Dramani Mahama has expressed profound thankfulness to Almighty God for the numerous benefits received following his re-election.
In his speech following the announcement of his victory on December 9, the President-elect quoted scripture, saying, “The results of this election by the Electoral Commission show that NDC with me, John Dramani Mahama as the leader, just chalked one of the most emphatic victories in the history of Ghana.
“Let me begin by thanking God, the creator of the universe for protecting and preserving us through this whole campaign period. I also give thanks to God for preparing a table before me in the presence of my enemies.”
BACKGROUND
The Electoral Commission of the Republic of Ghana has declared the flag bearer for the opposition National Democracy Congress, John Dramani Mahama as the winner of the 2024 general election.
John Dramani Mahama obtained 6,328,397 votes cast representing 56.55% of the valid votes cast, defeating his primary rival, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 4,657,304 votes representing 41.61%.
