The maiden edition of the Tongu Education Fair has been successfully held at Adidome, bringing together students, graduates, parents, and tertiary institutions to promote informed educational and career decisions among the youth in the Tongu area.
The initiative was organised in collaboration with the Member of Parliament for Central Tongu Hon. Alexander Roosevelt Hottordze, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Addison Dodzi Mornyuie, and implemented by Nunya Space, led by its Executive Director, Rev. Confucius Caradoc Bedzina.
The one-day fair attracted over 370 participants from across the Tongu districts and beyond, with nine (9) universities and tertiary institutions present to engage participants on academic programmes, admissions processes, and career pathways. Several participants received instant admissions and on-the-spot academic guidance.
Speaking at the event, the Member of Parliament emphasised the importance of education in national development, stating that “when young people are given the right information and opportunities, they are able to make decisions that positively shape their future and the future of the constituency.”
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Addison Dodzi Mornyuie, noted that the fair was a timely intervention, adding that “many young people struggle after SHS due to lack of guidance, and this platform helps close that gap.”
In his remarks, the Executive Director of Nunya Space, Rev. Confucius Caradoc Bedzina, explained that the vision behind the fair was to provide clarity and direction to young people. He stated that “every young person deserves access to guidance and opportunity, regardless of their academic results.”
Stakeholders described the programme as impactful and forward-looking, noting that access to accurate information is key to helping students make the right educational choices.
The Tongu Education Fair marks a significant step toward youth empowerment and educational development in the area, with expectations that it will become a regular platform to support students and families.
